When you think ‘adventurous elopement’, Minnesota is probably low on your list of places you think would be cool. Well, you’re wrong.
Minnesota has so many hidden gems. The cliffs along Lake Superior, 1,300 miles of trails, beaches of all kinds, and some of the most amazing views.
I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite spots to elope in Minnesota, and while there are approximately 100000 more, these are awesome places to start.
Black Beach, Silver Bay
Black beach has become increasingly popular over the last few years, and it’s easy to see why. It’s unique black pebble sand and rugged orange rock cliffs, this is one of my most favorite spots to take couples.
Tettegouche State Park, Silver Bay
If climbing a million stairs doesn’t bother you- then this is the place to be! The views at the top are incredible. You can also head over to some of the waterfalls or dip your toes into Baptism River. You could spend all day at Tettegouche and it would feel like 5 different parks.
Grand Marais
Way, way up north is a little town outside of the candaian border. Filled with sweeping views of Lake Superior to miles of untoched forests of the Gunflint Trail. Grab some donuts or some beer and take in the views on Artists Point or do the hike up to Honeymoon Bluff to watch the sunset. There is no shortage of things to do here in Grand Marais.
Temperance River State Park
Plunging waters, deep gourges, and never-ending views of the forest from above- Temperance River is underrated as an elopement spot.

Minnesota can definitely hold its own compared to what one might think are more “adventurous” states! More couples need to elope in minnesota!
